A direct current cardioversion (DCCV). The heart is momentarily stopped to reset the electrical rhythm of the heart. This procedure is used to correct atrial fibrillation and mMay be performed urgently if a patient is unstable or scheduled after patient had been treated with medications to convert atrial fibrillation. This procedure requires preparation.
