Angiography/Angiogram
An invasive study performed by the cardiologist in the hospital’s “cath lab” and used to map arteries in the extremities, neck, heart and abdomen. Patients are injected with contrast dye and the arteries are viewed through fluoroscopy. Percutaneous interventions (stent, cutting blade and ballooning) can be performed to open an artery and restore blood flow. Same preparation required as a heart cath.
